ABOUT FRIES'n'GRAVY

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!!...
it's chunky, crispy, smooth and fat. it's an indulgence but more importantly, fries'n'gravy is nourishing.

stay for a while. sit down, relax and kick off your shoes, while chefs colin and jay collaborate to prepare your classic canadian highschool favourite with only the finest of international ingredients. take a pound plus of crispy fries done proper, some beef gravy, a touch of salt, toss in a dash of freshly ground pepper, and the secret ingredient - TLC. but that's not all, there's more to this batch of fries'n'gravy than just fries and...well...gravy; throw in 1/2 a cup of cynicism and 3 cups of reduced criticism. sprinkle with brutal honesty and you have yourself a batch french fried goodness served up daily.

served best when fresh. feeds'a'plenty so enjoy with all your friends and family.

fries'n'gravy...culture and criticisms.

no preservatives or additives.

despite my love of hip hop, I am a terrible pop and locker.
just-terrible.

So, I decided to try Alfonso's book in order to improve my skills on the dance floor.

Despite, minutes upon minutes of strenous poppin' and lockin', I still reek of something other than awesome. However, maybe 'Carlton Banks' can get you smelling fresh on the dance floor.

Find this book. I don't know how. Just find it.
Maybe you'll be lucky and get that dance pad too!

taste of the danforth 2007
i'm one of those canadians who complains about winter. i'm one of those people who complains about the cold the moment the mercury dips below zero celsius on the thermometer.

naturally, when summer swings around, my only reaction is to get outside as much as possible. i need to soak up the sun, watch girls in their summer gear walk by and inhale that heavy humid smog. it's part of my nature. if ever in the toronto area, be sure to do your research and peep the free festivals around the city. being that we're the most multicultural place in the world, it's not hard to experience a different culture. peppered throughout the city, are cultural enclaves where different ethnicities gather and call home. i guess it's a means of solidarity away from the motherland.

"birds of the same feather flock together", right?

the danforth is basically toronto's greek enclave. think chinatown just without the chinese, weird smells, street food stalls and rats. think souvlaki, kebobs and baklava. "the taste of the danforth" is a three day open-air street festival where everyone, greek or not, can meet up and just enjoy the summer nights of the city. for minimal costs, you can sample greek eats, have a couple beers in the beer tent area or just shoot the shit and people-watch with your friends. there are even free concerts and shows.

last year colin and i peeped the festival for the first time and we instantly knew we'd be back for 2007.
this year, we brought along the lovely marriane, her hunk-of-a-lover mark and his cuz jeff. the fantastic four was in full effect plus jeff and the times were great.

the gluttons that we are, we ate some gyros, sampled some souvlaki, bunched down some baklava, honey roll, scarfed down spinokapita, kicked back some heineken and just wandered along the three blocks. did i mention the lamb chops?
all in all, it was a golden day.

see you by the quail-fire, next year!
